Court Related Therapy
Courts often order therapy that offers protection and support for children and their parents related
to matters in family law cases. At times, therapy may be necessary in an effort to facilitate reunification of children and parents. Generally speaking this therapy is not confidential.
Consultation & Expert Witness Services
Each single party litigation is accepted on a case-by-case basis. We can offer expert witness services on specific topics based on clinical experience and relevant research when evaluation of the parties are not available.
Co-ParentingCoordination
We facilitate communication between divorced or separated individuals regarding the safety,
educational and health related topics of their child. Other important topics of co-parenting are discussed with the goal of enabling parents to reach a mutual decision regarding the best interest
of their children. Past issues and difficulties are rarely dealt with due to the fact that current and future welfare of the children is paramount.
ParentingFacilitation
Parenting Facilitation is useful for cases where parents may need more direct assistance in
disengaging from their disputes with one another and refocusing on addressing the needs of the children in question. Parenting Facilitators bring an additional monitoring and reporting role to the process, and can help inform the court, the parents, and their attorneys as to what appears to be in the children's best interests as well as how each parent is contributing to meeting those interests.
Based upon a court order for Parent Facilitation Dr. Backs helps parents cooperate with each other in order to find a mutual agreement on issues of co-parenting. The focus is on current and future issues, as opposed to the resolution of past conflicts. This process requires a court order, is not confidential and the results can be reported to attorneys and the court.
Continuing Education Services
Dr. Backs is available to speak at professional events and offer professional training on a
number of topics, including court ordered therapy, reunification, child abuse and domestic violence in family court. In addition to offering health and wellness seminars.
